Saying Goodbye

In the beginning of December we said goodbye to our Aussie friends. One family moved back to Melbourne while the other family is making new roots in Switzerland. Saying goodbye is never easy. You go through a cycle here among foreign friends and it is bound to happen...people eventually leave and move on to the next step whether it be back to their home country or to a new assignment in a different part of the world. I am confident we will see these friends again soon. They are too special not to see at a later point in our lives. However, it is never easy to say goodbye. They were part of my weekly routine. I have been really busy with Christmas activities since they left which has helped, but I know come January when they are not "returning" from what feels like a Christmas holiday, I will be a bit more sad and reality will set in. We made some fun memories on their last night before heading to Melbourne by enjoying the Christmas Santa street at Tokyo Midtown and the "illumination" (what we call Christmas lights). In one of the pictures Miss M is frowning because her friend will not sit by her and give her a cuddle. Oh my.
