My Favorite Days

My favorite days are the days we stay local, and do not do much of anything except go to the local park and enjoy the beautiful weather. We did that today...school in the morning and after lunch we hit the beautiful weather with full force, swinging, playing in the sand, going down the fire pole, doing flips on the bar, and trying to take more steps on our own. It is days like these that I love the best...slow, easy, fighting, forgiving, living, breathing.

4/16/16 - Scrapbook Day

Scrapbook day fell on a Saturday for this month. We had a lazy day around the apartment. We are currently staying in Shirokane so we visited this university nearby that was associated with the boarding school daddy went to. The campus was small but rather beautiful. Unfortunately we could not walk on the campus as we are not professors or students, but we did get to peak around the gates. We are enjoying the small park near our place and spent hours there this afternoon before bringing three dirty kids home for baths. I really enjoy days like this...where we have nothing going on and can simply enjoy being together as a family. The kids are doing well. The K Man got to see some old youchien buddies on Thursday while Miss M was at art class. It was so fun as the boys loved being together to play. A mom got them matching army shirts and he wants to wear it every day. Miss M finished a painting in art class. I really do not like to brag on my kids, but for this I must as I thought she did an excellent job. She loves art, crafts, story telling, and sewing. I hope we can help foster these God given talents she seems to have and enjoy. The J Man took a couple of steps on his own on 4/12/2016. He has not done it since then, but it seems like he is close. It is pretty fun to watch and the big kids get so excited watching him do new things.

Last Saturday we also stayed in our area and went to Happo-en garden/restaurant for the kids to see the koi. We also saw a traditional Japanese wedding which was fun. I have posted pictures of that below as well. Also, below are some beautiful Sakura pictures we saw this past week. Mostly I viewed white ones this year but I was fortunate enough to see some pink ones still in bloom. A lot of the petals had fallen so the kids loved playing catch with them as we threw them onto the kids. Enjoy some pictures of our recent activities.

Shimoda Beach April 2016

Last week we enjoyed a little "spring break" in Izu at Shimoda beach. A friend invited us along and I thought it would be nice for the kids and I to have a break from the every day routine and city life. The weather was nice with only one rainy day. The kids had a lot of fun on the train going down and coming back. I really appreciated the husband helping us get on the train and situated before he headed into work. He also met us when we returned to Tokyo. I did not take my IPad so we were tech free and TV free for a week. We did watch one movie on DVD on the rainy day but other than that the kids were away from the screen life. We played outside a lot, ran in the waves in spite of the water being really really cold, and enjoyed fellowship with our friends. It was a lot of fun and a much needed break for our family.
